There are many ideas of how this shot/cocktail became famous but we know for sure that it can be traced back to Playboy Bartender Guide back in 1971!
One theory on how it got popular is by quarterback Brett Favre, but the drink was super popular by college crowds in the early 1980’s.
One thing we know for sure is this cocktail or shot not only tastes great but will get you that “loving feeling” we are all looking for!

1 part Amaretto
1 part Sloe Gin
1 part Southern Comfort
and a splash of lime
- Cocktail - Playboy Bartender Guide Recipe
1 oz. Southern Comfort
.5 oz. sloe gin
1 oz. amarett
.5 oz. orange juice
Pour into highball glass over rocks.
Pour all ingredients over ice into your favorite Boston shaker.
Shake it like a salt shaker
Then serve in you shot glass… or cocktail glass over ice
down it and do it again!
You can garnish this cocktail with a lime wedge.
